Qt 5.14 update plans?
by Richard Shaw
Looks like Qt just released 5.14, I believe this officially supports Python
3.8? So it would probably be a good idea to update Rawhide sooner rather
than later.
Rex, I'm willing to help coordinate/perform builds.
Thanks,
Richard

Updates impossible from iOS
by Richard Shaw
I tried to submit a new update for txt2man for EPEL 8.
It was a PITA but I *THOUGHT* I got it correct. Now I see the wrong package
was included in the update.
Problem 1: bodhi couldn't find the update so I tried to paste it in
manually (which was a PITA in itself).
Instead it chose tpm2-tss-2.3.1-1.el7 instead of txt2man-1.6.0-7.el8 which
is what I pasted in.
Problem 2: It didn't find the correct bug so I pasted it in manually...
Only when I clicked "done" in the iOS input, it chose the tmp2 bug instead.
I tried multiple times. The only way I got it to accept the correct bug was
to paste in the BZ# and then add a "space".
So now I have an update I can't modify with the correct BZ# (after multiple
attempts) and with the WRONG update.
In the modern world with the pervasiveness of mobile devices, this needs to
work in a predictable manner.
Thanks,
Richard

CPE Weekly: 2019-12-13
by Aoife Moloney
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the CPE team weekly project update mail!
Background:
The Community Platform Engineering group is the Red Hat team combining
IT and release engineering from Fedora and CentOS. Our goal is to keep
core servers and services running and maintained, build releases, and
other strategic tasks that need more dedicated time than volunteers
can give.
For better communication, we will be giving weekly reports to the
CentOS and Fedora communities about the general tasks and work being
done. Also for better communication between our groups we have
created #redhat-cpe on Freenode IRC! Please feel free to catch us
there, a mail has landed on both the CentOS and Fedora devel lists
with context here.
Note:
This document is currently built from individual reports rolled into a
document which we edit and copy into a final document. We are aware
that this causes problems with some email readers, and are working on
a method to make this less problematic.
High Level Project Updates:

Holiday Season Shutdown Notices:
Red Hat does a 2 week end of year shutdown where nearly everyone is
encouraged to spend time away from computers and family. During that
time, some operators will be monitoring tickets and services for large
scale outages, but will not be active on IRC or email. The ability of
the operators to fix problems is also limited because some operations
require staff who will be away. People on duty will do what they can
to repair and maintain services but do not give any ETA on how long it
will take for it to be done.
If you are making changes to infrastructure during this time, please
treat it like a ‘frozen’ period. Unless it is an emergency repair, do
not push changes without a review from a main system administrator. We
would encourage you to bump your ticket or request early in the New
Year (full service resumes January 6th) for our attention, otherwise
we will work through the backlog of requests.
We wish you and yours a happy holiday season and look forward to
working with you in collaboration throughout 2020 and beyond.
Comments? Suggestions? Feedback? Let Us Know!
Kindest regards,
Aoife

HEADS-UP: poetry 1.0.0 now available in rawhide
by Fabio Valentini
Hi everybody,
I've been tracking beta releases of poetry for a while now, and a few
hours ago, 1.0.0 was finally released to GitHub [0] and pypi [1].
I've made packages of beta releases available on COPR [2] for some
time, and I am not aware of any issues with the 1.0.0 release (rather,
it fixes some issues that are present in 0.12.17, and also makes it
possible to drop two downstream patches).
poetry 1.0.0 is now available in rawhide, and from the linked COPR
[2]. I don't plan to update it in fedora 31 (yet), but if there is
interest, I can push the three necessary updates (clikit 0.4.1, cleo
0.7.6, poetry 1.0.0) to fedora 31, as well. For now, packages for
fedora 31 are available on COPR [2] for testing purposes.
