License tag of minicom corrected
by Ondřej Lysoněk
I've reviewed the licensing of minicom and found the License tag to be
inaccurate.
I changed the License tag from:
GPL+ and GPLv2+ and GPLv2 and LGPLv2+ Public Domain and Copyright only
to:
GPLv2+ and LGPLv2+ and Public Domain
The license tag was only made less strict, so it shouldn't cause any
problems.

Fedora c++ default build flags
by mskalick@redhat.com
Hi,
during a discussion with upstream (MongoDB) they asked me about default
Fedora C/C++ build flags. And I don't remember all Fedora System Wide
changes where it was introduced,... so is there some place where it's
described?
Main upstream question was:
"""
I don't know what is in those various hardening scripts, so hard to say
what they do. I am somewhat interested in whether you think we should
be applying these flags for our hardened builds. Do you have some
guidance on the runtime costs?
-fstack-clash-protection
-D_GLIBCXX_ASSERTIONS
-fcf-protection
I'm also curious about why you are applying -fexceptions and
-fasynchronous-unwind-tables. The first seems unnecessary for a C++
project, and the second seems potentially interesting, if you have some
context on why it is applied.
"""
So some link or explanation in this thread (which I can link to
upstream) would be really helpful.
Thanks,
Marek

Intent to retire pkpgcounter
by Zdenek Dohnal
Hi everyone,
pkpgcounter (alternative sw written in python2 for counting pages of
several document types - usually covered by CUPS system - and computing
ink coverage needed for printing specific document - never heard of
someone who uses it...) started to fail to build from source.
I would like to retire this package (read it as I will not solve FTBFS
bugzilla, so pkpgcounter will get retired in the future) because of
following reasons:
- dead upstream - the last update on upstream website is 2013
- code is python2 only, which is going to be retired at 1st January 2020
- if someone would like to take the package, then the package will need
to be ported to python3
- AFAIK the package is unused (no user's bugs in long time, no
dependencies on pkpgcounter by other packages...)
Is anyone against pkpgcounter's retirement from Fedora? Does anyone use it?
