I have investigated the build process of NetBeans and I can just can go
along with the fact that its dependency chain is quite long.
Nevertheless I would like to reactivate it. If anyone is interested in
helping, feel free to contact me.
It seems like, that also netbeans-platform was not updated since quite
a long time, which means that this package needs to be updated before.

Is Gnome Software ready for primetime ?
by Tim Lauridsen
I have tested gnome-software to see the current state, compaired to gpk in
F19, there is a lot stuff there cant be done.
1. You cant install backgrounds / icons
2. Not all application found in the menu, can be found under installed, you
can search for them and find them, but cant remove them (ex. Document
viewer)
3. if you search for 'icons' you get at lot of wrong positives, where there
is no visible relation to icons in the text shown
4. Description is missing from almost every application.
This is just a few of the issues i have made bug reports on, but the main
question is gnome-software ready for the one an only software manager for
the primary
desktop for Fedora ?
I think the current state will make Fedora look limitted for new Fedora
users.
PS. Please dont turn this into a flame war for/against gnome :)

[Test-Announce] Fedora 20 Beta RC5 impending, please help test
by Adam Williamson
Hey, folks. So here's a Beta status update: Beta RC4 was *almost* a go,
but we have one blocker in it. I have just filed the request for Beta
RC5, which should resolve that single blocker
( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1026466 ).
Please, when RC5 lands, help out with testing if you possibly can - we
need to get at least all the Beta validation tests from the matrices:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Installation_Test
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Base_Test
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Desktop_Test
(currently pointing to RC4, but will point to RC5 when it lands)
completed by tomorrow's Go/No-Go meeting to avoid another slip (assuming
we find no more blocker bugs, of course). This is possible - we've done
the validation in this time frame before - but needs lots of people to
chip in and help out. So please do! Thanks :)
The following updates that are pulled into RC4/RC5 need karma to go
stable, too:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/python-blivet-0.23.4-1.fc20
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/pungi-3.03-1.fc20
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/lvm2-2.02.103-3.fc20
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/gnome-initial-setup-3.10.1.1-2.fc20
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/sugar-record-99-3.fc20,sugar-memo...
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/sugar-portfolio-44-1.fc20
The first three can be +1ed on the basis of typical installation
testing, the fourth can be +1ed if GNOME initial setup works OK on a
GNOME install, and the last two can be +1ed if those Sugar activities
work in the SoaS live image / a Sugar install. Thanks!

AppData: what if screenshots are the wrong aspect ratio?
by Jerry James
I just took a look at making AppData xml files for the packages I
maintain. I started with the alphabetically first one (why not?):
abe. Here is my first attempt:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<application>
<id type="desktop">abe.desktop</id>
<licence>CC0</licence>
<summary>Abe's Amazing Adventure</summary>
<description>
<p>
Abe's Amazing Adventure is a scrolling, platform-jumping, key-collecting,
ancient pyramid exploring game, vaguely in the style of similar games for
the Commodore+4. The game is intended to show young people (I'm writing
it for my son's birthday) all the cool games they missed.
</p>
</description>
<screenshots>
<screenshot type="default">http://abe.sourceforge.net/screen0-4-1.png</screenshot>
<screenshot>http://abe.sourceforge.net/screen2-4-2.png</screenshot>
</screenshots>
<url type="homepage">http://abe.sourceforge.net/</url>
<!-- FIXME: change this to an upstream email address for spec updates
<updatecontact>someone_who_cares(a)upstream_project.org</updatecontact>
-->
</application>
But those screenshots are not the right aspect ratio. What is the
right thing to do here? Just use this anyway and let the GUIs decide
how to resize the screenshots? Download the screenshots and figure
out how to massage them into the right aspect ratio on my machine? If
so, where do I store the massaged screenshots?
Also, the documentation at
http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/appdata/ doesn't say what a
screenshot type is supposed to be. I gathered that one should have
type "default" and the rest should have no type by looking at some
examples. If that's not correct, could the documentation be updated
to explain this, please?
Thanks,
