That's great! If you'd like to package software which is not yet in
Fedora and you haven't packaged anything for Fedora before, you need
to get yourself sponsored and get a Git repository created for you.
Follow instructions here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/Join
Eclipse Fedora Packager would come into play once the Git repository
has been created (Section 2.1.15 onwards - "Check out the module").
I think, Eclipse Fedora Packager would be a great tool if you are new
to Fedora Packaging. Instead of following sections 2.1.15-2.1.20 you
could use the Eclipse plug-in. It's a substitute for fedpkg (at least
for the most part).
As Alex mentioned, since you would be creating an RPM-spec-file from
scratch while following the above process, eclipse-rpmstubby would be
a great tool to generate some RPM-spec-file templates to build upon
for you. More info here:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Linux_Tools_Project/SpecfileEditor/User_Guide#Cre...
Let us know if you have more questions.

Anaconda suggestion...
by Nathanael D. Noblet
Hello,
So I'm in the process of upgrading (using preupgrade) from F13 to
F14, something I typically do around the RC phase, anyway, that's
beside the point. All the packages have been installed, but I'm at the
point where I get "Finishing upgrade process. This may take a little
while" and a 'progress indicator' on crack. It flies around quickly back
and forth for a bit, pauses, then flies around some more. Here's my
suggestion. It would be great if this dialog could be a little more
specific about what it is doing. I'm guessing that since I'm doing an
upgrade this box is running all the post-update scripts and as such
can't give a proper progressbar as it doesn't know how long it will
take. That's fine. However its been running for nearly as long as it
took to 'install' the 2089 packages that got upgraded/installed. If it
is doing the cleanup/post upgrade package script thing, even just doing
something similar to PK where it shows which package is doing what. I
don't know if it is feasible, but it would be nice to know what is going
on...
If the anaconda developers think this is valid or useful I can file a
bug, I just thought I'd bring it up here first...
Thanks,

The march toward Release Candidate
by Jesse Keating
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
After a flurry of composes and tests and fixes over the past couple
days, we're finally to the point where we can make the Release
Candidate. We have a few more things going into stable tonight, which
will show up in tomorrow's Branched report. I will be making the
release candidate against that repository, so everybody else can play
along and test it at home from this repository as well.
Once I get the compose done, I'll work on bodhi so that we can do
"stable" pushes that actually will become 0-day updates to Fedora and
we'll start populating the updates directories. Nothing else will go
into Fedora 14 itself without releng / qa oversight.
We have a chance at a strong finish to a darn good release cycle. Lets
pull together and make it happen!

For those who aren't also subscribed to the python-dev mailing list :-),
Dave and Neal's posts about fpconst sparked some interest in porting work
there. Talking with Barry Warsaw we'd like to use the
python-porting(a)python.org mailing list to coordinate efforts to port so that
distros can help each other with this task rather than everybody reinventing
the same patches:
http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-porting
There's also a few wiki pages on wiki.python.org that we've decided to use
as well:
http://wiki.python.org/moin/PortingToPy3k/
http://wiki.python.org/moin/PortingToPy3k/PortingHelpers
It's a wiki so feel free to edit information, post scripts to the mailing
list to gather information, etc. Right now I'm in brainstorming mode but we need to
figure out some ways to make actual progress on the code too. For that we
need to figure out how to submit code upstream and how/when to fork if
upstreams are dead, etc.

upstart in rawhide
by Petr Lautrbach
Hello,
systemd will be default init system in Fedora 15 and scripts infrastructure will be adapted to it.
There is a plan to leave upstart in Fedora as non-official alternative.
For now (since upstart-0.6.5-12.fc15):
- upstart-sysvinit is no longer created
- upstart requires sysvinit-userspace (now provided by systemd) which provides upstart compatible
utilities /sbin/halt,poweroff,reboot,shutdown,telinit
- conflicting upstart utilities are located in /lib/upstart
- jobs definitions in /etc/init/ are already packaged in upstart but still taken
from initscripts upstream git
- to use upstart as init you need to pass init=/sbin/upstart to kernel command line e.g. via grub.conf
There will be probably more changes like resolving file conflicts on /sbin utilities, rc.sysinit,
/etc/init.d/halt and man pages which are currently not shipped.
Any objections and comments are appreciated.
Regards,
Petr

More mono/koji problems
by Paul F. Johnson
Hi,
I'm still trying to get to the bottom as to why mono is failing to build
on koji as either a scratch build or as a live build and I've come
across this on the x86 build - can anyone shed any light on it as it's
about as useful an error throw back as 4/10 was back on the ZX81!
make[3]: *** [libmonoruntimesgen_la-reflection.lo] Error 130
I've looked up Error 130 and it's no real help. Can anyone shed any
light on what it means?
