Perhaps your problem is related to
bug 493058 [1],where automatic bug reporting from anaconda leads
you via bug 499236 [2].

Font-Size Problem with liberation-fonts
by Christian Nolte
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
currently I am working on a website which should be displayed correctly
on Linux and Windows using the "Arial"-Font. I've learned that
liberation-fonts are the way to go (because they are metric compatible),
and discovered a problem with a font-size below 12px. The fonts are
rendered with different spaces between the characters independent of the
browser, but seemingly dependent of the OS (so I blame the
liberation-fonts).
I am not quite sure if there are patent restriction or something else,
which prevents liberation-fonts to be exact clones, so it would be nice
if someone of you could tell me if this is expected behaviour, or a bug:
Here are some screenshots of the browsers and OS combinations I have tested:
ftp://velian.dyndns.org/pub/nolte/liberation-fonts/ie7-windows.png
ftp://velian.dyndns.org/pub/nolte/liberation-fonts/ff-3.5-windows.png
ftp://velian.dyndns.org/pub/nolte/liberation-fonts/ff-3.0.11-linux.png
This is the testbed:
ftp://velian.dyndns.org/pub/nolte/liberation-fonts/liberation-fonts-test....
I have only tested this with font-sizes of 12px, 11px and 10px. Below
12px liberation-fonts puts too much spaces between the characters, so
that 10px with liberation-fonts is equal to 11px Arial on Windows.
BTW I am currently using liberation-fonts-1.04-1.fc9.noarch. But the
problem is visible on a F11-box too.
Thanks for looking at it.
Best regards,
Christian

[ANNOUNCEMENT] dracut-0.3
by Harald Hoyer
Here it is, dracut-0.3!
Featuring booting from all kind of block devices, NFS, iSCSI and NBD.
Dracut is a new initramfs infrastructure. It should replace nash/mkinitrd.
Dracut is a feauture for Fedora 12 http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Dracut
How to get started, if you want to test.
# yum install dracut-0.3
To generate a initramfs image, run:
# dracut <imagename> <kernel version>
to overwrite an existing image:
# dracut -f <imagename> <kernel version>
Try to boot from that image by modifying /etc/grub.conf. Be sure to have a
fallback entry.
If you want to boot from network have a look at the manpage.
Basically everything can be specified on the kernel command line.
Bug reports can be send directly to me (harald(a)redhat.com) until dracut appears
in the bugzilla component list.

How about adding gtk2-immodules and gtk2-immodule-xim in

I wanted to write it short but it was not clear I see.
So just one of the choices:
Either
(a) gdb /usr/bin/wpa_supplicant
and use debuginfo-install wpa_supplicant
(the line stepping will work but it will be "imperfect")
or (but not both)
(b) Patch wpa_supplicant.spec with `-O0 -ggdb3' but do not install it at all,
use just the version from the build tree. I use `rpmbuild -bc' for such
cases. Do some:
gdb /root/rpmbuild/BUILD/wpa_supplicant-0.6.4/wpa_supplicant (unchecked)
You can also do (if you need the binary present at the standard system
location such as in /usr/bin):
(c) rpm -U wpa_supplicant-0.6.4*.rpm
but do not use debuginfo-install but instead install also its
corresponding locally built debuginfo:
rpm -U wpa_supplicant-debuginfo-0.6.4*.rpm

If you do
rpm -qi wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant-debuginfo
you should find out their builds do not match. I am more curious gdb should
have printed also:
warning: the debug information found in "/usr/lib/debug//usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant.debug" does not match "/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant" (CRC mismatch).

Hi help required for setting up a debug setup
by Harsha gowda
Hi,
Setup build environment as you said earlier,
Thanks for help
I did followed all you said.
*
yum install fedora-rpmdevtools -y
yum install rpmdevtools
rpmdev-setuptree *
I install the srpm as below
*rpm -i /home/harsha/Download/wpa_supplicant-0.6.4-2.fc10.src.rpm *
every time i will create the
tar.gz file of the folder /root/rpmbuild/SOURCE/wpa_supplicant-0.6.4/
and compile as
*rpmbuild -bs wpa_supplicant.spec *
and i put* print statements and debug,*
Can any one help me how can i use kdbg and use
any kind of debug build where i can debug line by line...
Please help me how to setup debug enveronment in fedora
and debug line by line,
I even installed
*rpm -i wpa_supplicant-debuginfo-0.6.4-2.fc10.i386.rpm*
the source is present at */usr/src/debug/*
But could not find any pointers in net where i can debug line by line.
Thanks for your replies

I am not sure what you are trying to do yet but since you already posted
to the development list, you might want to continue the conversation there.

But those hundreds of lines of shellcode *CHANGE* with the autoconf and/or
aclocal version! Even if upstream changes *nothing* in configure.ac, those
lines *will* change whenever they use a different version of the autotools.
For most upstreams, that will happen much more often than some actual change
in configure.ac in the immediate context of what you're patching.

Upstream is much less likely to change that parameter in the next line than
to use a different version of autoconf. Chances are those context lines
won't be touched for YEARS! It's just basic Statistics.

You don't understand me, I'm telling you how patches to configure.ac in an
area upstream is unlikely to touch any time soon work, while the equivalent
patches in configure get fuzzed by unrelated changes introduced by a new
autoconf used by upstream and break.
> Stuff like AC_PATH_PROG produces several dozens lines of canned shellcode,

But those "several dozens lines of canned shellcode" CHANGE WITH THE
AUTOCONF VERSION!
> Changing the parameter to AC_PATH_PROG, for example, does not change
> hundreds of lines of shellcode.
No, but using the next point release of autoconf, even with no changes to
configure.ac at all, does.
Most programmers use fast-moving distros. Distros like Fedora, Debian
testing/unstable, Gentoo (even masked packages sometimes) etc. There are
even upstream developers using Rawhide! So the version of autoconf upstream
is using will change extremely often. Much more often than a 5-line window
in configure.ac.
Your flawed assumption is that all upstreams are as conservative with
autotools upgrades as you are.
