wrong dependency chain ?
by Manuel Wolfshant
While trying to do review for
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=473218 I found out that mock
builds for rawhides bail out because of
Error: Missing Dependency: dejavu-lgc-fonts is needed by package rrdtool
The same error is triggered by a koi scratch build. OTOH, dist-f11
works just fine. Any idea why is rrdtool pulled in the the first place
and why are the fonts missing ?

shortening time passed in bodhi?
by Patrice Dumas
Hello,
Most of the time I push to stable when reminded by a mail (nice feature)
since nobody cares to give feedback on my updates and they are not
urgent. However recently I had an update I wanted to have in as soon as
possible since the app was broken without it. It took 8 days to have it
pushed, something like 2-3 days for the push to testing and the remaining
for the push and signing.
Could this be improved?
I guess that the signing server should help, but I don't think it could
remove all the delays.
What are the reasons for holding updates? Is there somebody actually
verifying that the package works, doesn't break the distro or the like?
What exactly do releng/QA people with updates, ie what checks?
Reason I can think of justifying holding the release would be issues that
can affect distro as a whole. Some of those issues should be
tracked automatically:
* nevr issue (leading to upgrade issues)
* missing dependencies (as BuildRequires or Requires) be it as a removed
require that is needed by a package, or a new provide that is not
provided by any package
* providing redundant Provides leading to the wrong package being used
as provide
Are those issues actually checked today? Are there other issues that
releng/QA test/check?

To find the necessary bits, look in setup.py in detect_modules() for the module's name.

automatically include files in %doc only if they are not empty
by Till Maas
Hiyas,
on a package I recently packaged for Fedora, there is an empty TODO file
included. Is there an easy way to mark this file in %files to be included
only if it is not empty? This would make it easier to not forget to add the
file in case it will be filed with some contents in a future release.

ccedilla & Ccedilla migrated to c' and C' after upgrading to Fedora Rel 10
by casimiro barreto
Hello,
Today I migrated one of my computers to Fedora 10. Everything was smooth
and I didn't have problems except that now I lost ccedilla and Ccedilla.
Configurations are:
LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8
Keyboard: PC101 US
Layout: US-INTL (dead keys)
Original ccedilla: ' c
Original Ccedilla: 'C
What's the best way (one that won't be lost when I update the system) to
correct this problem?
Best regards,
Casimiro

better internationalization in docbook-style-xsl
by Muayyad AlSadi
hi,
I made some patches into docbook-style-xsl-1.74.0-3.fc10.noarch
to make it better for international environment
before you ask me why in devel ML why not doc-ML why not upstream ?
I say because I want to make it better
so that when we upstream it we won't find any issue
for example the file html/docbook.xsl have a header like this
<xsl:output method="html"
encoding="ISO-8859-1"
indent="no"/>
while the xhtml/docbook.xsl uses utf-8
changing the first one to be just like the second ie. utf-8 encoding
won't drop any feature but it will produce better files
(if a non-ASCII non-Latin-1 is used with ISO-8859-1 encoding it will
be encoded like this &xxxx; for each char)
second thing,
left and right are not what we want, we want here and there
(in right to left languages left and right are mirrored)
in the ODF standard they call it start and end (start is the same
direction as the current script ie. left for English and right for
Arabic)
I patched the xsl with a script (to make sure they are all fixed
because a diff patch will be broken if the upstream make any change)
for i in html xhtml
do
perl -i -wpe 's/align="left"/align="{\$directions.align.start}"/g' ${i}/*
perl -i -wpe 's/align="right"/align="{\$directions.align.end}"/g' ${i}/*
done
this way all the align="left" will be substituted with the value of
the param directions.align.start ..etc.
we need to declare this param somewhere depending on the locale
so I edited html/param.xml to have something like
<xsl:param name="directions.align.start">
<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="$direction='rtl'">right</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>left</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>
</xsl:param>
<xsl:param name="directions.align.end">
<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="$direction='rtl'">left</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>right</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>
</xsl:param>
which mean if I cant to make a RTL right-to-left document a set a
param called direction to the value rtl
other wise left to right direction will be assumed
I need a better automated way for doing this
I want the direction to be guessed from the language of the document
if it's in the list of right-to-left languages (Arabic, Parisian,
Urdu, Hebrew, ..etc.)
ie. when there
<article id="my_article" lang="ar_JO"> or <book id="my_book" lang="ar_JO">
direction param should be set to rtl
how can I do this last step instead of passing --stringparam direction
rtl to xsltproc
