rpm2html?
by Hugo van der Kooij
Hi,
I used to use rpm2html on Red Hat lInux 8. I recompiled rpm2html v1.8.2 on
Fedora Core 1 and it compiled but failed to work. (Not surprising as I saw
no mention of it being compatible with rpm v4.2)
Did someone volunteer to take over development from Daniel Veillard?
Does anyone know of other software to build some usefull webpages based on
a bunch of RPM files?
Hugo.

Problem with cd eject via network block device
by Steve Bergman
I am running the current Fedora development branch with current kernel.
Using nbd-2.6 user space utilities.
When I try to "eject /dev/nd1" I get:
eject: unable to eject, last error: Invalid argument
nbd userland utils are not part of Fedora but nbd kernel module is.
Should I bugzilla this or is it not really supported?
Pertinent section of strace follows:
7883 open("/dev/nd1", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK) = 3
7883 ioctl(3, 0x5309, 0xbffffad8) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
7883 ioctl(3, FIBMAP, 0xbffff980) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
7883 ioctl(3, FDEJECT, 0xbffffad8) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
7883 ioctl(3, SNDCTL_MIDI_MPUMODE, 0xbffffa90) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid
argument)
7883 write(2, "eject: unable to eject, last err"..., 53) = 53

Offer to diagnose graphical install hangs on Compaq Presario 1240
by Neil Aggarwal
Hello:
I tried to install Fedora Core 1 on a Compaq Presario 1240
laptop using the graphical installation. It started installing
the packages, but part of the way thru the first disc, it
just sat there on a package. I left it for a long time but
it did not continue.
I then turned the laptop off and tried again. It went
thru to the second disc and started installing packages.
After a while, it hung again. So, this problem seems
like it may be a bit random.
I posted a message to the users list and someone told me they
had the same problem on a presario 5220 and they used a text
install to work around it.
Since this is not a production machine, I am willing to
try to help diagnose this problem. I will need guidance
on what to do (I have never done this before), but am willing
to spend some time on it.
If anyone want me to do this, please let me know what I should
do.
Thanks,
Neil

Self Introduction: Paul Heinlein
by Paul Heinlein
Name: Paul Heinlein
Location: USA -- Portland, OR
Status: Research Systems Engineer (aka sysadmin)
Company: Oregon Health & Science University
Goals:
- help with QA
- contribute needed packages; I already maintain some .specs for
work: http://www.madboa.com/geek/specs/ -- though some of those
are less crucial now that some of the upstream developers
maintain their own specs.
- help develop a consistent Legacy project, since a four-month
upgrade cycle will wreak havoc on my servers.
Qualifications:
- lead Linux admin at work since 1997
- work Linux environment is pretty homogenous (x86 Red Hat) but at
home I go wild: x86 Red Hat, SPARC Gentoo, x86 Debian, Alpha
Debian, Alpha home-brewed rpm-ish stuff (on a Jensen!)
- active participant in Portland Linux/Unix Group since 1997
- languages/skills:
* can develop in Perl and PHP
* can do light patching in C and Python
* have had patches accepted by developers of pine, cfengine, and
rpm-update
* an increasing facination with DocBook and XSLT
* a decent writing background: I edited the local Portland
computer magazine, Computer Bits, for 3.5 years; I wrote an
article on FastCGI for Linux Journal back in 1998

FC2 Whishlist: individual package selection during install
by Arnaud Abélard
Howdy,
What about (re-)enabling the individual selection of package during
installation like it used to be in the RH times?
Cheers,
