Something else is causing this problem, because twm does not have any rpm scriptlets. The only thing in xorg-x11 packaging that has 'groupdel', is a very old script line in xfs scripts, which has been commented out forever, but left there for documentive purposes.
Something else you were installing at the same time must have invoked groupdel.
Thank you for the response. I am not sure what package caused the message other than the fact the error messages occurred after yum printed the cleanup statement for xorg-11-twm. I looked in my /var/log/yum.log file and these are some of the packages that yum installed immediately before xorg-x11-twm.

Should I put in a RFE for yum to add the ability to track package installs/removals/updates/cleanups and any associated error messages so if yum does encounter an error we can be 100% sure what package caused said error?
Thanks, Jason
Hi,
I am using the very useful tool "lndir" regularly in much the same way as the new hardlink package is used (though I am not sure if hardlinks can fully replace lndir, since I have managed to wipe out my trees in /usr/src/kernels by just adding/removing kernel packages, but that is another issue).
I would like lndir to be installable without pulling in a lot of X, since it has no X windows dependancy at all. It just happened to come with X:
[root@uml ~]# rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/bin/lndir xorg-x11-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2
In fact, I am not even sure why X requires lndir :)

The "lndir" and "hardlinks" tools serve completely different purposes. They are not interchangeable, nor intended to be.

lndir is used by X developers during development. It may or may not be used during the monolithic build of X as well. It's a utility that probably should be in GNU coreutils IMHO, but isn't.
X11R7 currently does not contain lndir. I'm not sure if there are plans to keep it for X11R7 final release or not.

To the best of my knowledge, it doesn't. xorg@lists.freedesktop.org would probably be the best place to ask about lndir though. ;)

cp -rs should do the same thing as lndir.
