Hi all, this is my first time posting a patch to cobbler, so please
be gentle....
The workaround which converts the Kickstart Metadata into management parameters to be
handed to Puppet (through the External Nodes service call) seems immensely unintuitive, so
I've added a "Puppet Parameters" field in the Web UI. This field can be
found under the "Management" heading on the edit pages for both Profiles and
Systems. It is a textarea (so you don't have to cram everything into one line...)
that takes a YAML formatted dictionary. This seemed the most straightforward input format
considering this _is_ a puppet configuration option. The old workaround with the
Kickstart Metadata field is still functional to support anyone who has already configured
their system that way, but I'd suggest considering it deprecated and breaking that
functionality some time in the future....
The patch can be found on github in the following commit:
http://github.com/akesling/cobbler/commit/005a4a9ae5df50b98325ce5d309d676...
I hope that this is thought to be a useful.
Thank You,

I really like this concept. Using ksmeta as external node parameters
is a bit of a kludge.
+1 vote on merging this.
