One of the defects in my queue is a bug that says the default DHCP.conf
path is different in Fedora-11 (or was it 12? Anyway...)
We have a bunch of settings like this in ... settings.
"bind_bin" : "/usr/sbin/named",
"dhcpd_bin" : "/usr/sbin/dhcpd",
"dnsmasq_bin" : "/usr/sbin/dnsmasq",
"httpd_bin" : "/usr/sbin/httpd",
"omshell_bin" : "/usr/bin/omshell",
"restart_bin" : "/sbin/service",
"tftpd_bin" : "/usr/sbin/in.tftpd",
"vsftpd_bin" : "/usr/sbin/vsftpd",
I'm suggesting we remove all of these and use default distribution
paths, always.
For binaries, why not use $PATH of the user cobbler is started as.
This would almost certainly always be root which should have these in
$PATH. This way allows people to do more interesting things by just
changing $PATH and cobbler will do "the right thing TM".
Indeed.
Service is still an exception but we could just have cobbler fire off the rc
scripts... which are still in the same location for Debian, aren't they?
Yes and no :)
On redhat, init scripts are actually under /etc/rc.d/init.d but
symlinks preserve /etc/init.d. Init scripts on Debian and derivatives
reside directly under /etc/init.d.
