We're happy to announce that Cobbler 2.0.2 is now in Fedora testing. We had originally scheduled this release for late November but ran into a few logistical problems actually getting the package out to Fedora.
The package will move into Fedora stable in a week or so assuming no one encounters any major bugs.
The F12 packages can be found under the following tree:
http://download.fedora.devel.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux//updates/testing/12...
The change log is below
- (FEAT) Added support for Cobbler4j - (FEAT) Added method for enabling autostart on qemu domains - (BUGF) web ui: move sessions directory to /var - (BUGF) Update the vlanpattern regex to cover more common virtual interface formats - (BUGF) cobbler check: fix BIND detection - (BUGF) Fix error message creating profile without a distro - (BUGF) use proper HTTP error codes - (BUGF) Create more intuitive system for displaying actions under configuration items. - (BUGF) Fixed hardlinking - (BUGF) Creating subprofile in WebUI no longer fails on default_ownership - (BUGF) No longer delete excluded files in reposync rsync - (BUGF) Add fedora12 and fedora13 as valid 'redhat' versions - (BUGF) Correct improper distro creation while importing i386 Fedora/RHEL. - (BUGF) Better messaging for invalid object errors - (BUGF) Added a legacy sync mechanism - (BUGF) No longer bundle libraries on distros where they are already available
And on a personal note, thanks to everyone for bearing with us as we are learning to fill Michael's shoes. -------------- Regards, Alex, Devan, John, and Scott

It has been a rather couple of busy days, finally getting cobbler upgraded from 1.6.6 to 2.0.1 and then 2.0.2 because of the aggravation surrounding parent profiles. I am not sure what I think of the new WebUI yet, but...
I may have found a halfway major bug. :((
I don't know how wide spreat it is, but when I go into the WebUI and try to add a profile (Profiles->Create new profile), I get a traceback. At first, I thought it might be because my server on which my cobbler server runs is still running FC8 (because of the *CENSORED* paravirt_ops BS which make me want to have the atypical reaction of wanting to force some heads to demonstrate the Pauli exclusion principle). But taking another machine which was freshly loaded with a fully patched FC11 (and was to be loaded with FC12 as soon as I got through this mess) and building/installing things there, and reproducing it with the same config files, I am not so sure. I am attaching the traceback from the FC11 install, and have saved a copy of the page with the local variables expanded if somebody wants that. And if you have any more questions, I have backups of my environment
Also, I will say that this interface appears to be a huge step back in one way... it appears that I am forced to go to the CLI to change the parent profile of sub-profiles, which is a fairly common operation for me. I routinely bounce back and forth between parent profiles with a subprofile which overrides the kickstart and kernel options, along with other values (say changing a profile from something based on FC10 to something based on FC11, or even Centos 5), and the WebUI is generally more convenient (odd coming from a person who prefers CLIs).

It looks like you've run into this bug https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/ticket/547

The new WebUI is one of the newest parts of Cobbler so it's definitely got some bugs to be worked out. I'm doing some investigation right now surrounding how to deal with profiles, sub-profiles, and parent profiles in the web interface. ------------------ Regards, Alex

If you need a setup which will create this, I got it with my brand-new FC12 profile added via the CLI after the upgrade to 2.0.2.

I know it would be nice if I could proceed to click all the way up to the distro from the profile list, through a sub profile, and so on. But I could certainly wait a little bit for this, and work around it with tabs and such. I also know that it would be nice at times to promote a sub-profile to be a regular profile, and to perhaps demote at times. But again, I will wait for that. Getting the new WebUI stable and back to what approximates the old WebUI had is most important now.
Also, I may have another issue which I encountered doing a koan install of a VM... I don't know if it is a variable not being initialized or what, and hope to get it narrowed down a bit later tonight before I report it, if it is not my stupidity.
