Normally, yes. But it will be reset during the DHCP call... (or reboot,
moving of machine (laptop case))
Correct, if this is not desired, add the following line
to /etc/sysconfig/network
PEERDNS=no (default is yes)
and the DHCP client will not overwrite those settings.
