Asus a8n-e AMD chip
Intel dg33bu Intel Core Duo
Today's Rawhide 64 still has no sound on either of
these mobos.
I did hear a click in the speaker on the a8n-e as Fedora
came up.
But Rawhide is not silent - the roar of the uncontrolled
fan on the
Nvidia 9600gt is plenty loud.

Are you using KDE or GNOME?
Why because if you open the volume control in GNOME, the sound is muted and all the volume
tabs are set to 0. If you unmute(checking in the box) you should hear sound. If you can
hear sound, then save your settings with
# alsactl store
and when you reboot you will see/might see that sound is back to mute again. Do a
# alsactl restore
and the saved settings should come back. Try that and report back.
If the question arises to file a bug, against which package should one do it. Apparently
alsactl has been depracated?

Antonio
