Seems to happen only if nautilus manages the desktop (activated by
gnome-tweak-tool: have filemanger handle the desktop->on)
ah, right, I did wonder about the nautilus reference.
You may have trouble getting upstream to care a whole lot about that,
but maybe we'll be surprised!
