Actually it was a different tool, repodiff vs treediff. One uses yum
repodata to compare, the other opens every file. Guess which one is
faster? (:
repodiff probably just needs a tweak to sort things in alphabetical
order rather than repo order. If you want to throw a patch at the
yum-utils upstream that would be hot.

I also just checked in -q getting rid of debug output from yum, too.
