How old is your kernel initrd?
Can you extract the files stored within it?
It contains copies of /etc/fedora-release and /etc/system-release.

I am running 2.6.28-3.fc11.i686 that is quite old for rawhide, but no
29 series kernel completes booting on this particular system (see Bug
479525 - Kernel doesn't complete booting reported on January 10 and
related comments).
The other system reporting 10.91 is running on latest kernel.
