Did you upgrade mkinitrd as well? Think there was/is a problem if not
running latest version. Mine is now mkinitrd-6.0.29-1 which fixed me
booting with 2.6.25 ver. kernels.

mine is mkinitrd-6.0.30-1.fc9!!!
But I think that is connected to some problem with Network Manager not
finding wireless card - see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=433157- and it is problem
with kernel upstream....
