For most users I agree that the everything install causes more
problems
than it's worth. But in my case and several others it's very useful.
We have to install Fedora onto several hundred machines twice a year
for
our student labs. Now what we normally do is "An Everything Install".
Then we download a script from a server and run it on each machine. This
script installs any extra rpms we need, like java, configures the
machines to our requirements and disables any unwanted services etc.
Fairly simple.
Use kickstart, that way you can even tweak configurations and pull in local
packages during/after install.
And a student lab machine running everything under the sun isn't too wise
anyway: more software ==> more places into which they can apply the prying
iron...
