I can highly recommend doing a kickstart installation.
In the kickstart file you can add commands to manually
add users with the right UID/GID.
You can also update the /etc/pam.d/gdm file in the kickstart
file to remove the root login restriction.
Very useful to remove these Windows-like "features" of Fedora :-)
