2010/11/16 Rawhide Report:
New package: wayland-0.1-0.1.20101111.fc15
Wayland can be tried on Fedora 14 successfully by rebuilding packages
- libdrm-2.4.23-0.1.20101108.fc15
- libxkbcommon-0.1.0-1.20101110.fc15
- mesa-7.10-0.10.fc15
- wayland-0.1-0.1.20101111.fc15
In order to be able to run the clients, one also needs to rebuild
cairo-1.10.0-3.fc14 with build option "--enable-gl". cairo.spec needs
additional entries
%{_includedir}/cairo/cairo-gl.h
and
%{_libdir}/pkgconfig/cairo-egl.pc
%{_libdir}/pkgconfig/cairo-gl.pc
%{_libdir}/pkgconfig/cairo-glx.pc
in order to allow rpmbuild to complete compilation. After installing
the new packages, build the clients in the local wayland tree
retrieved with git. Note that 70-wayland.rules should be copied to
/etc/udev/rules.d instead of /etc/udev where it gets installed by
package wayland-0.1-0.1.20101111.fc15.

$ dnd
Contrary to the outcome of the build procedure outlined at
http://wayland.freedesktop.org/building.html, I do encounter frequent
segmentation faults which may be due to using more recent versions of
mesa and/or cairo by cloning the current git trees.
Unfortunately, I am only able to run wayland on top of a running GNOME
desktop. When launching it outside of X (kms, ATI Radeon X800),
wayland starts up but the screen is filled with a garbled version of
the background bitmap - no pointer, no reaction to mouse input.
