.fc9 packages and friends in Rawhide
by Christopher Beland
So a debuginfo-related bug I reported was just resolved because the
package hadn't been rebuilt since Fedora 9, indicated by .fc9 in the
version number. The way dependencies are generated for debuginfo
packages by the build system apparently changed between Fedora 9 and 10.
Currently on my Rawhide system, I see 508 .fc10 packages, 203 .fc9,
5 .fc8, and one .fc7 package. I was wondering if all the older packages
(at least .fc9 and older) should be pre-emptively rebuilt as .fc11, or
would that cause more problems than it might solve?

Wiki Renovation Phase #1 complete
by Adam Williamson
OK, so I felt there was pretty much group agreement on the drafts we had
for the Wiki, so I have put them into production. :) The new front page
is now up at:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA
and the new 'how to join in' page at:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Join
thanks very much to everyone who contributed to the drafting process for
these pages. I know we didn't all quite agree 100% on exactly how they
should look, but I think everyone agrees they're better than the old
way! Thanks again, guys.
Remember to spread links to these pages around everywhere you go and
talk about QA - if you talk to someone about what you're doing, or post
in a blog or on a forum, stick in a link to the front page or the 'how
to join in' page. That's how we grow the group. :)

How to enter karma points
by stan
Hi,
I run F10 with updates-testing enabled. Yesterday I got the new kernel, and because it is running fine for me I thought
I would go to the site https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/ and enter a positive karma for it.
No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to take. I have to confess that I'm not sure that I could read the captcha
properly, so maybe that was it. I must say that machines must have a hard time with "reading" it when a human can't
read it. :-)
I entered my email address, a comment, and checked the radio button "works for me". Entered what I thought the captcha
said and kept getting told there was a problem and it couldn't accept my feedback.
What did I miss? Do I have to register somewhere?
Thanks for any clarification.

by Adam Williamson
Hi, guys. Here's my draft for a 'how to get involved in QA' page.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Adamwill/Draft_Join
It's kinda a rewrite of parts of the current 'QA' page (that we're
rewriting). The idea is to be purely task-focused and to keep it short
and simple, and to list the easiest things first to show that it's
really easy to get involved. You'll see that several of the entries link
out to other pages for further details, some of which don't exist yet.
The QA/Updates_testing page would just be a really detailed guide on how
to use the updates-testing repositories and how to send your feedback to
Bodhi.
The Rawhide_testing page would basically include most of the information
about running Rawhide from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Testing (which
myself and viking_ice feel should probably be re-arranged, as it's a
horribly unfocused page), as it's good information, it just needs to be
in a sensible place.
The TestCase page would basically explain what a test case is, what we
do with them, and how to create one. It could obviously link in with
Nitrate and Beaker when they're ready.
What do you guys think? Am I on the right track with this? Thanks!

Kernel Panic
by potat0
Greetings,
I've been assuming that this problem was not unique to me and would be fixed in a subsequent update, but 5 kernel versions later, I guess I better figure out what's going on.
I haven't had a bootable kernel since version 2.6.29-0.74.rc3.git3.fc11. 0.74 spits out some trace information but continues to boot and run without problems (AFAIK). From 0.78 on, it stops with a kernel panic. It's a Lenovo S10 netbook (Atom processor) so the small screen doesn't lend itself to seeing much of the trace information.
At this point I'm unsure how to capture any useful debugging information or the best place to post the same.
Any suggestions?
Emmett "Buddy" Pate
