[Test-Announce] 2009-10-20 Confined Users Test Day
by Milos Malik
Hi friends,
I would like to invite you to join Confined Users test day which will be
held tomorrow, 2009-10-20. Please come out to Freenode IRC #fedora-test-day
or #fedora-selinux and help us improve SELinux policy. You will need a machine
with updated Fedora 12 or rawhide (virtualized machines are welcomed too :-)).
Testing is pretty straightforward: all requirements and test cases are described
in details here[1].
SELinux Confined Users is a feature where SELinux role is assigned to each user
and where the SELinux policy controls what the user can do/access on the system.
Dan Walsh and Miroslav Grepl will help us to solve issues.
Thanks to all who come along to help test!
Milos Malik
P.S.: There is no bravery in running Fedora/RHEL with disabled SELinux ;-)

Just a heads up, at the suggestion of Adam, I posted QA spin [1] images that include the following test day packages:
selinux-policy-targeted
policycoreutils-gui
setroubleshoot
audit
xguest
Links to the live images and sha256sum's are on the wiki page.
Thanks,
James

thunderbird / preferred web browser
by Dennis Jacobfeuerborn
Hi,
How does one configure a custom preferred web browser that opens when
clicking on a link in an email in thunderbird?
I installed a trunk build of Firefox in /opt/firefox but when I specify
"/opt/firefox/firefox -P exp" as a preferred application then I only get a
new window with the default mozilla homepage and not the url i clicked on.
I also called a shell-script that dumps $* into a logfile which ends up
empty so I wonder how that URL is passed to the called app if not as a
parameter?
Regards,
Dennis

F12 -hang on boot - NetworkManger problem?
by Peter Glassenbury (CSSE)
I have F12_x86_64 installed from alpha ISO and kept up to date
with a yum update. (running on a intel core2-duo)
I am always getting a hang on boot at the stage of..
Starting system message bus.
It waits at this point for just over 10 minutes, then
continues through normally to runlevel 5.
Errors in /var/log/messages say
nss_ldap: failed to bind to LDAP server ......can't contact LDAP server
It repeats this many times while starting the dbus-daemon and eventually times out.
It repeats the error through automountd and rpc.statd
and then finally NetworkManager runs again and starts the network
Where should I report this as a bug? and against what...
Network manager for not getting its act together earlier or
general init.d boot script order..??
In an F10 install we had to remove NetworkManager to get a
working system.
Currently I'm testing F11 and F12alpha and F11 works fine.
(on the same hardware machines)
Any help or pointers on what to report greatly received.
Pete

Re: F12-Beta-i686-Live-Edu.iso has selinux problem with sugar browse
by Thomas Gilliard
F12-Beta-i686-Live-Edu.iso has 2 problems:
1.) selinux policy has to be set to selenix=0 for sugar browse to work
using these methods
a.) <esc> <tab> selinux=0 at boot screen
b.) changing selinux policy in gnome first then logging into sugar
2.) logging out of sugar and back into gnome. Sugar mouse cursor is
retained in gnome desktop.
selinux policy should be changed to allow sugar activities to work.
