how to run a script after wakeup from suspend
by Fulko Hew
Although not truly a 'rawhide' question (F8 right now),
I need to know where to stick a script so that it gets run
when my laptop comes out of suspend mode.
The problem is the infamous 'clicking disk' problem
(due to aggressive power management).
I have a script I run at powerup to disable the drive's power management,
but every time I open the lid after suspending, I have to manually
re-run my script, because I haven't found where to have it run automatically
and I keep forgetting to do it manually.
(Obviously, when coming out of suspend, the disk is 'reset'
and therefore needs to be re-configed every time.)
TIA

Updating kde in rawhide
by José Abílio Matos
Hi,
while updating rawhide today it failed, even using --skip-broken. No
surprise here. :-)
Following rawhide wisdom I decided to update by chunks.
Since I am curious about kde 4.1 I have updated kde* first, what follows is a
list of problems I encountered:
$ yum update kde*
...
Error: Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/share/config.kcfg/pimemoticons.kcfg from install of
kdepimlibs-4.0.72-2.fc10.i386 conflicts with file from package
kdepim-3.5.9-9.fc9.i386
To avoid this problem I updated while removing kdepim, this lead to the
removal of tellico (note to self, do something about it) but it succeeded. I
had some hiccups during the way:
...
Updating : qt ####################### [16/87]
Error unpacking rpm package 1:qt-4.4.0-1.fc10.i386
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/qt4/bin: cpio: rename
...
Updating : kdegames ####################### [36/87]
Cannot overwrite existing module
Cannot overwrite existing module
...
Cleanup : kdesdk-libs ####################### [86/87]
Unable to look at what's on dbus
Since qt-4.4.0 was not installed I had to do it by hand.

Dear all,
After the release of Fedora 9, the testing machines
have been left pointing to straight Fedora 9, and to
continue running rawhide one has to disable
/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo
by changing 1 to 0 and
/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-rawhide.repo
by changing 0 to 1
and there we go back2rawhide,

I have about two weeks left of testing and I want to
continue running rawhide. I ran it on two machines
for a good while since the second release of Fedora
testing Beta if I am not mistaken and the other one
since Fedora 6 Test 2.
Why are there too many errors with the mirrors?

"jumpy" picture
by Michal Jaegermann
After applying as many rawhide updates as it was possible without
breaking dependencies and backing off 'GConf2*' and 'gnome-session'
packages I am able to logon again into a desktop session.
Only one thing. Before my desktop shows up I am getting random
"blinks" at various parts of a screen - like a broken vertical
sync. I even started to wonder if my graphics card developed
some issues or maybe a new kernel has something to do with that.
Only that when a desktop, panel and a session open windows are
finally redrawn a picture once again becomes solid like it was
before. Nothing wrong with it - then. I tried few accounts with
different configurations and everywhere it is the same.
Does anybody knows what is happening here and why? Or I am
only one affected that way?

Wine and F9
by Michael Wiktowy
Hello,
After upgrading to F9, my existing Wine installation locks up my
machine hard (X frozen, no ssh response) when I try to run any Wine
programs that were previously installed. Running winecfg by a user who
hasn't done so previously works fine. So it is looking like something
in my .wine folder is making wine *very* unhappy.
Is anyone else seeing this?
