F8rc3 Checking Filesystems fails. rhgb bug?
by Jerry Williams
I am loading Fedora-8-i386-DVD.iso using nfs and pxeboot and Kickstart.
Everything goes okay until I reboot and then it says:
Checking filesystems [FAILED]
And it lets me enter the root password and I can't seem to find anything
wrong with any of the file systems.
But at the grub menu if I hit e and edit and remove rhgb from the command
line.
Then it seems to boot okay.
And then once it has booted that way it is fine.
And will reboot without any problems.
I see there is an update to rhgb.
Thanks,
Jerry

Printing problems and SELinux hcid/bluetooth_t issues.
by Rick Stevens
Hey, gang. Under F8T3, when I bring up the Gnome printer manager
(System->Admin->Printing), I get a cryptic message about cups:
There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'server-error-service-
unavailable'
I've never seen this before. cupsd is running, the /etc/hosts file
can resolve the host's names and all, but I can't print or do anything.
Has anyone seen this and can you point me to some possible things to
look at?
I've also seen some SELinux denials regarding hcid (bluetooth_t), both
in "dac_override" and an unlink in /var/run (I think...deciphering
SELinux crud makes my head hurt). Any ideas on that?

F8rc3 Live
by Knute Johnson
I tried out F8rc3 Live disk today and it looks good and runs great.
It even recognized my USB wireless card and connected to my WPA2
network with no problems. Truly scary.
I was not able to get the Java plugin working for Firefox however. I
don't know what the problem is. FF shows the plugin installed and I
even added the compat-libstdc++-33.i386.rpm and it still wouldn'
work. Anybody else try it?
Is there some where I can get a copy of the boot.iso from the DVD to
test to see if the boot up bug has been fixed? I don't want to
download the whole DVD as I have limited bandwidth here and it would
take several days.
Thanks,

[Q] avidemux and AM_PROG_MKDIR_P
by Pat Kane
I am trying to build avidemux_2.4_preview2 (http://avidemux.org)
on my F8T3 system. The automake is failing with the error:
aclocal: macro `AM_PROG_MKDIR_P' required but not defined
The suggested fix is to edit /usr/share/aclocal/po.m4
and usr/share/aclocal/intl.m4 and to change the
pattern AM_PROG_MKDIR_P to AC_PROG_MKDIR_P
(i.e. s/AM_PROG_MKDIR_P/AC_PROG_MKDIR_P/g ).
I tried that and then avidemux builds and works great.
But that seems like a horrible hack.
Is there a better not-so-horrible hack?

user switcher bug?
by David L
When I do the following:
Log on as user A
Switch to user B (start new session)
Switch to user A (return to existing session)
End user A's session (log out)
Return to user B's session
Switch to user A (ie, attempt to start a new session)
I get a blank screen. From there I have to hit Alt-F1,
log in as root from the console, telinit 3 then telinit 5
to get back to the gdm login. This is repeatable for
me (3 for 3). User switcher bug, or buggy user? ;)

How about a Koji Sendmail 8.14.2 for F7?
by Gilbert Sebenste
Hey gang,
I know F-8 is just about out the door, but could you squeeze in a Sendmail
8.14.2 release for Fedora 7?
Thanks!
Gilbert
