[FC5] ClamAV - Anyone using this?
by Dan Thurman
Folks,
Is anyone using ClamAV for FC5? Is there any need to use
this on FC5? Just wondered if it is worth installing this
application to ward of Viruses, Spy-ware, Mal-ware stuff...
Assuming this application is needed, I went ahead and
I have yum installed clamav and was getting prepared to
configure it and I noticed that missing is the /etc/clamav.conf
or /etc/clamd.conf depemding on the source the installation
instructions you have.
I note that there is a /etc/clamd.d directory with two files:
amavisd.conf milter.conf but I don't think these replace the
above missing files?
Please let me know if there is something I am doing wrong and
while you're at it. perhaps point me to the link where I can
install the ClamAV on FC5?
Thanks!
Dan

Fedora Core 5 Test Update: ghostscript-8.15.1-7.1
by Tim Waugh
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Test Update Notification
FEDORA-2006-285
2006-04-06
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 5
Name : ghostscript
Version : 8.15.1
Release : 7.1
Summary : A PostScript(TM) interpreter and renderer.
Description :
Ghostscript is a set of software that provides a PostScript(TM)
interpreter, a set of C procedures (the Ghostscript library, which
implements the graphics capabilities in the PostScript language) and
an interpreter for Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Ghostscript
translates PostScript code into many common, bitmapped formats, like
those understood by your printer or screen. Ghostscript is normally
used to display PostScript files and to print PostScript files to
non-PostScript printers.
If you need to display PostScript files or print them to
non-PostScript printers, you should install ghostscript. If you
install ghostscript, you also need to install the ghostscript-fonts
package.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:

Missing update announcements
by Bernd Bartmann
Now that FC5 final is out a problem seems to reappear that I thought
was gone since FC4 came out: FC core updates appear on the download
mirrors but some of them never get announced on fedora-announce-list.
Since the release of FC5 the following announcments are missing:
For FC4:
anacron-2.3-36.FC4
dia-0.94-13.fc4
dovecot-0.99.14-8.fc4
For FC5:
cairo-1.0.4-1
GConf2-2.14.0-1
xscreensaver-4.24-2
gnome-screensaver-2.14.0-1.fc5
liboil-0.3.8-1.fc5
newt-0.52.2-6
xterm-211-4.FC5
I've opened bugs for every missing announcements and tracker bugs to
get an overview. For FC4 the tracker bug is #161106, for FC5 it is
#188051.
Can someone @fedora or @redhat please look into this issue. I thought
the process was somehow automated since FC4 came out. It would be
helpful to get an explanation about the internal process how updates
are released.
Thanks in advance,
Bernd.

Fedora Core 4 Test Update: sane-backends-1.0.17-0.fc4.2
by Nils Philippsen
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Test Update Notification
FEDORA-2006-282
2006-04-05
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 4
Name : sane-backends
Version : 1.0.17
Release : 0.fc4.2
Summary : Scanner access software
Description :
Scanner Access Now Easy (SANE) is a universal scanner interface. The
SANE application programming interface (API) provides standardized
access to any raster image scanner hardware (flatbed scanner,
hand-held scanner, video and still cameras, frame-grabbers, etc.). If
they're using SANE, developers can write image-processing applications
without having to think about the peculiarities of individual devices.
SANE also makes it possible to write a device driver once, which can
then be used by any SANE-compliant application. SANE currently
includes drivers for some Epson SCSI scanners, HP ScanJet SCSI
scanners, Microtek SCSI scanners, Mustek SCSI flatbed scanners, PINT
devices, most UMAX SCSI scanners, Connectix QuickCam, and other SANE
devices via network. Note that this package does not enable network
scanning by default. If you wish to enable network scanning, read the
saned(1) manpage. If you'd like to develop SANE modules, you should
also install the sane-backends-devel package.
