disk mounter 2.14.0 problem
by LarryT
Hi.
I have a problem with disk mounter 2.14.0 (on fc5)
It is impossible to mount the floppy drive. and impossible too to find
the umount choice in the menu when i click on the applet on the toolbar.
-When the cd is umount (by hand with "gnome-mount -d /dev/cdrw"), i
have 3 choices : open (but it is grayed, of course), eject and mount
choice !
-When the cd is in the drive and mounted, have 2 choices : eject and
open. BUT no umount choice !!!
It seems to be a bug, isn't it ?

kernel-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4 sata panic
by Jerry Williams
I installed the new kernel-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4 and my machine starts to boot
and then says:
ata1: failed to set xfermode, disabled
ata2: failed to set xfermode, disabled
Then it complains that it can't find any volume groups, there is one, but I
don't think that it can see my SATA disks. It prints out a few more things
and panics. I am running Fedora Core 4, planning on going to 5 after it has
settled some.
Grub kernel line:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4 ro root=/dev/V0/L1 acpi=off rhgb quiet
Should I try something else on the kernel command line?
Thanks!
Jerry

Trying to follow JPackage installations per Paul Howath per FC4 for FC5
by Dan Thurman
Folks,
I am trying to get a Java development environment setup and
I was directed to follow the FC4 jpackage instructions but
for FC5 and apparently the first thing required was to install
fedora-rpmdevtools from the extras repository but this file
is nowhere to be found!
All I got for the list is:
fedora-buildrpmtree Create RPM build tree within user's home
directory
fedora-installdevkeys Install GPG keys in alternate RPM keyring
fedora-kmodhelper Helper script for building kernel module RPMs
fedora-md5 Display the md5sum of all files in an RPM
fedora-newrpmspec Creates new .spec from template
fedora-rmdevelrpms Find (and optionally remove) "development" RPMs
fedora-rpmchecksig Check package signatures using alternate RPM
keyring
fedora-rpminfo Prints information about executables and
libraries
fedora-rpmvercmp RPM version comparison checker
fedora-extract Extract various archives, "tar xvf" style
fedora-diffarchive Diff contents of two archives
fedora-wipebuildtree Erase all files within dirs created by
buildrpmtree
spectool Expand and download sources and patches in
specfiles
So - where is it... or is this step omitted for FC5 now?
Kind regards,
Dan
