GNOME Terminal 2.13.0 line wrapping
by Clyde E. Kunkel
I just noticed that a long line entered into gnome terminal does not
wrap properly. Instead of line feeding and continuing at the beginning
of the next line, it overwrites the beginning of the line. However,
this behavior goes away if you adjust the width of the terminal by
dragging the left or right border. This only occurs on a new invocation
of the gui.
Anyone else seeing this? I haven't made any changes to the behavior of
the terminal. Should this be bugzilled?

kernel 2.6.15-1.1854_FC5 adds 30 sec to boot time
by Jim Cornette
Booting the latest kernel shows 120 seconds (2min) compared to the 1853
version recently monitored which was around 95 seconds. The other
kernels were booted without selinux since it was giving me some problems
before. SELinux allowed normal boot with the charts for this attempt
booting.
The latest version 1854 is shown below. I have available but not
presently uploaded the 1853 kernel version.

Additional comments:
Also pup combined with pirut worked out fine. The additional feedback
when pirut completed worked. The removal of the pup seperate package
went as planned. No new packages to try out with the new pup yet, but it
launches successfully.

Red Hat mailing lists
by Mike Chambers
I see on the main mailing lists site, that there are quite a few lists
that probably don't exist or need to exist, for whatever reasons. The
list owners, or whomever can remove them, might want to take a look and
get rid of a few of these....

NetworkManager-0.5.1-5.1 issues: no WPA/WPA2 passphrase prompt, NM dies, etc
by Miles Lane
Hi,
I have an updated FC5-test1 installed.
I have a few problems with NetworkManager-0.5.1-5.1.
1. NetworkManager exits after I connect to a wireless network. I
have to restart the daemon to try to connect to another network.
2. NetworkManager isn't remembering my WEP passphrase.
3. The Connection Information only displays the interface, IP address
and MAC address. All the other info (DNS, etc) is shown as 0.0.0.0.
Also, it might be nice to have the network hardware name or the kernel
driver name show up in the connection information dialog--for example,
ipw2200 ("Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915"), ndiswrapper or 8139too.
Thanks. NetworkManager is looking very promising!

pup and pirut exiting behavior?
by Jim Cornette
I was testing out pup which a correction was made to accomidate security
content. My curiousity is regarding how these programs are supposed to
finish up the updates and the duties the programs are designed to
handle. both programs finish with no indication that they completed
successfully. They do not show an aftermath of rpm errors. The queries
on databases shows the package is intact, installed and with no missing
components.
Is the disappearing of these programs normal or a bug? I expected a
finished prompt for pup and led back to group selection GUI with a
copleted status.
Both programs seem to be designed nicely other than the noted surprise
for the program exits. Pirut also allowed installation of groups and
fixed missing groups where something might have become incompete due to
rawhide nature. I personally am impressed with this program.
