Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I think this might end up
being more fuel to the fire of "replace depcheck with something saner",
though. I have some ideas on how to do that, just need to find the time
to get it done or someone else who's interested in doing the work :-/
I've been pondering lately about the current state of depcheck. Several times someone
asked about its incorrect results (mainly when it said "failed" and everything
was OK) and I needed to reply "sorry". I still think it is more often right than
wrong, but does it make sense to keep it around in its current state? We don't work on
it, we don't understand its internals properly, we know its architecture is flawed.
Maybe it's time to put it to rest?
Some people read its results, but how many have we discouraged from doing so? I'm
afraid that many of them.
