------- Additional Comments From paul.horos(a)ifax.com 2006-12-06 11:15 EST -------
> As for the package name, it matters not to me if it is called "hylafax" or
"hylafax+".
There does not seem to be any objection to renaming the package to be included
in Fedora Extras "hylafax+", so that has answered my question and addressed my
concern. Not only would it help prevent possible confusion between different
software projects, it would be consistent with Lee's own sourceforge website and
mailing lists. I agree that it's important to distinguish this package from the
hylafax software that has been available from http://www.hylafax.org since 1997,
especially in the event of it's submission to Fedora Extras. Whether hylafax+ is
a fork has been discussed ad nauseum on the hylafax mailing list; if Lee would
like to discuss it further that seems to be a more appropriate place than this
ticket.

Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: normal
Component: Package Review
AssignedTo: notting(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: pb(a)bieringer.de

New packet suggestion:
package keepass is missing, a very nice multi-platform password manager.
URL: http://keepassx.sourceforge.net/
I can provide a spec file for proper build on FC5, if required. The one
delivered in the source rpm is some kind of strange (at least the 0.2.0 version)
and not working without any modification.

Well, again reviewing this package:
>From http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/Guidelines :
* Requires:
- automake requirement
Well, that I wrote that 'automake' is needed for Requires
is for -devel package, not -emacs package, because
-devel package includes .m4 files, while -emacs packages
does not.
- pkgconfig requirement
This is also for -devel package.
* Timestamps
- Keeping timestamps is not treated completely.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Here 'install -c' is used, not 'install -c -p'.
This is due to './gst-package' content. Fix this file so that
timestamps are correctly kept.
Umm.. I think that this file is a bit strange and somewhat
incorrect.
Why does this file echo:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
echo "/usr/bin/install -c -m 755 $file $dest"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
which prints out 'install' but actually do:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
$dry_run || (rm -f "$dest" && cp "$file" "$dest" && chmod 755 "$dest")
-----------------------------------------------------------------
not using install but using cp? This script is wrong when
when we set @INSTALL@ environment to others such as 'install -p'
(which I strongly recommend) by
---------------------------------------------------------------
export INSTALL='install -p'
%configure ....
---------------------------------------------------------------
This case gst-package prints out the message as if this script
keep timestamps (by 'install -p') , while the actual behaviour
of this file is not to keep timestamps (by executing 'cp').
