--- Comment #56 from Stas Sergeev <stsp(a)list.ru> ---
Thanks for explaining.
So reason 1 seems specific to the langs that
has more than one input layout. This is not the
case with Cyrillic. With Cyrillic you only have
the layout that is printed on your keyboard and
no short-cuts are needed to switch to another
Cyrillic layout (because this is only needed when
you change your keyboard).
Reason 2 can probably be moved to ibus-wide level.
Is it possible to make a single IM engine to present
itself as multiple engines? So that you can use
ibus-wide hotkeys to switch between the typing modes
of a single engine just as well as between different
engines.
In any case, I am using linux since pre-XKB times,
and all these years long I've never seen RU in an
indicator and still the English typing. I've never
seen it in any other OS either. And now I have to see
exactly that. You'll get bug reports on that, for sure.
If you really want to keep 2 ways of switching to English,
then at least you should update the indicator accordingly,
like something like RU(en). This doesn't make much
of a sense, but at least then there will be no bug
reports and the user will at least see what layout
he currently has.
