The X11 case works fine in a VM. It turns out to be happening only when the DPI
scaling factor is not 1. With bare metal install on my machine GNOME selects
200% scaling automatically. I found that this was already reported at
https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2221 and a patch was proposed there but not
merged. That patch indeed fixes this issue in my testing. According to the
suggestion by the maintainer there, I reported the bug to Qt at
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-103393.
The Wayland case, however, is still not working regardless of scaling factor,
with F36 final release and updates. Is there any more information needed to
identify the issue?
