Cleanup : libuser-devel-0.57.6-2.fc18.x86_64 313/569
Makes yum hang. Is there a fix? Killing yum leaves the yum database corrupted and may render Linux unbootable.

It finally finished. Took a very long time.

Please quantify how long. +/- 50% if you must, but "very long" is not useful.
Your posts differ by 17 minutes. That long? Or did that 17 minutes include one or more attempts to reproduce the problem, or extraneous distractions, etc.?

When yum wedged on cleanup of that package I waited a minute or two, then wrote the first message. Normally cleanup for a package takes a fraction of a second.
I would guess yum was wedged for 5-10 minutes on an operation that normally takes less tan a second.

Sounds vaguely like my:

though I haven't seen that lately. If it happens again, try running a yum operation in another terminal and see if that clears the blockage.
