setting up drupal 5.2 on my fedora test box and, once i got to the config screen, i was presented with the message:
"Database configuration
Your web server does not appear to support any common database types. Check with your hosting provider to see if they offer any databases that Drupal supports."
but:
# rpm -q mysql mysql-5.0.45-4.fc8 #
am i missing something obvious?

ah, that's it -- installed it, restarted httpd, looking good. perhaps that little hint might be added to drupal's INSTALL.mysql.txt file. :-)

yum install php-mysql
