Hi, gang,
I would like to remove the following test case from Fedora_17_Install_Results_Template since 'askmethod' has been removed. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_install_repository_HTTP/FTP_defau... https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_install_repository_NFS_default https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_install_repository_NFSISO_default https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_install_repository_Hard_drive_def...

This is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804506 , right? I think maybe we should check a bit closer with anaconda team before killing the test cases, just to confirm we didn't miss something, but it seems right. We'd have to adjust the 'variation' cases for the new syntax. (We could rename them too, I guess.)

I hadn't previously seen any notice of this. I recently found about this option and it helpfully solved issues I had been having with doing installs. For example using the net install to do an install using an NFS source. Why was it removed and what are the alternatives now?

I have written to anaconda team to confirm if it is removed intended or temporarily. I will let you know when I get the answer.

You can still use all the methods that askmethod gave you a menu for. (Or, well, you *should* be able to. It all seems to be rather broken right now. But that's just bugs, not intentional). You just have to specify the actual method you want with a kernel parameter, rather than passing 'askmethod' to get a menu which lets you pick one. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804506#c2 - "use an appropriate "inst.repo=XXX" argument, as suggested by the error message."
We'll have to make sure this is explained in documentation, and the test cases are adjusted.
I use pxeboot and askmethod to install Fedora 17 since pxeboot started working.
If you remove askmethod can we have Gnome 2.x back??
