From some of the bugs I've looked at and fixed I suspect its the
way they
are called that is differing. There are two general problems
mii and ethtool ioctls dont work on some cards with the interface down
the negotiation delay in our scripts is a bit too short for gbit
I'm suspecting SuSE does
ifconfig eth0 up
talk mii etc
configure
and that masks all the power management and MII problems. Possibly we should
switch to that behaviour
