I have been getting this message for about two or three weeks, but have just ignored it. Is there anything I can do on my end to fix it ?

There's nothing you can do. Continue ignoring it.

This message really seems wrong or at least worded badly. "libbotan-2.so.16" is the currently installed version, so it is already provided, it doesn't need to be installed.

This is the issue. There's a new version of "botan2" with a new soname, but "corectrl" hasn't been rebuilt against that new version. So "botan2" can't be updated because that would break "corectrl".
