Did you run sha1sum against the downloaded iso file? Did it agree with the sha1sum from the download site?
If so, did you verify the DVD after you burned it?
The DVD was scratched. Using another blank worked.
I might still play around with a self made ISO, since I am just doing practice installs. Most of the upgrades can be applied after the install, but I expect the upgraded version of anaconda can only be tested during an install.
