Hi folks! Just wanted to flag an F34 update to get tested so we can
push it stable ASAP:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-d7b1dc57fe
aom was recently updated in F34 and Rawhide (the update for F33 is
pending), and the new version of libaom depends on jpegxl-libs...which,
it turns out, recommends a gimp plugin. Which means if you have libaom
installed - and it seems to be part of default KDE and GNOME installs -
updating to the new aom version will wind up pulling in GIMP, if you
don't already have it installed, and GIMP pulls in Python 2.x and GTK+
2.x if you don't have those installed. That's a lot of unwanted
packages.
The above update removes the recommends from jpegxl-libs to break this
chain, so updating libaom will no longer pull in GIMP. Obviously I want
to get it pushed stable ASAP so the issue happens to as few people as
possible. Thanks!
