Hi,
It's just an environmental variable, precisely how to change it depends on
if you want the change to stick, and which shell you're using. To change
it for just one session:
Open a gnome-terminal (or use a VCONSOLE) and make sure you're in BASH.
moose(1)$ export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
You could make this part of a shell script if you will need it often.
