F7 Network related Lockups?
by Andy Lawrence
I know the e1000 issues are known, but its also happening with my:
lspci 00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102
[Rhine-II] (rev 7c)
dmesg eth1: VIA Rhine II at 0xf7fffc00, 00:19:66:09:5c:df, IRQ 20.
eth1: MII PHY found at address 1, status 0x7849 advertising 05e1 Link 0000.
Currently using:
2.6.21-1.3212.fc7 (3194 was 100% unstable)
Heavy network traffic every time, eventually ends up with a hard lock.
You guys already aware, need a new bug report?

Summary : WenQuanYi Bitmap Chinese Fonts
Description :
The Wen Quan Yi bitmap fonts include complete CJK Unified
Ideograph (U4E00 - U9FA5) glyphs at four different sizes
(9pt-12X12 pixel, 10pt-13X13 pixel, 11pt-15X15 pixel,
12pt-16x16 pixel) and two weights (medium and bold).
Use of these bitmap fonts for on-screen display of Chinese
(traditional and simplified) in web pages and elsewhere
eliminates the annoying "blurring" problem caused by
the high stroke density of many Chinese characters and
insufficient "hinting" of anti-aliased Chinese fonts.
These fonts also provide bitmap glyphs for Japanese
Hiragana (U3040 - U309F), Katakana (U30A0 - U30FF)
and for Korean Hangul (UAC00 - UD7A3).

Name : apcupsd
Product : Fedora 7
Version : 3.14.1
Release : 1.fc7
Summary : APC UPS Power Control Daemon for Linux
Description :
Apcupsd can be used for controlling most APC UPSes. During a
power failure, apcupsd will inform the users about the power
failure and that a shutdown may occur. If power is not restored,
a system shutdown will follow when the battery is exausted, a
timeout (seconds) expires, or the battery runtime expires based
on internal APC calculations determined by power consumption
rates. If the power is restored before one of the above shutdown
conditions is met, apcupsd will inform users about this fact.
Some features depend on what UPS model you have (simple or smart).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Update to 3.14.1
NEW FEATURES
* PCNET driver supports remote shutdown request from UPS web interface
BUG FIXES
* (all) Fix potential NIS client lockup when server disappears. Many thanks
to Jan Ceuleers <jan.ceuleers(a)computer.org> for reporting the problem
and gathering data to track down the cause.
* (apctest) Fix link error after configuring with --disable-apcsmart.
* (apctest) Fix crash when displaying EEPROM values more than once.
Contributed by Ivaylo Haratcherev <I.J.Haratcherev(a)tudelft.nl>.
* Increase self-test timeout to 40 seconds to accomodate the RS 800.
Contributed by Lars Randers <lars(a)nstec.dk>.
* (linux-usb) Rewrite device opening logic to be more reliable. See
ChangeLog for details.
* (apcupsd) Do not attempt to cancel shutdowns.

wine on x86_64? (was: rawhide report: 20070604 changes)
by Gianluca Cecchi
it seems that now x86_64 builds are available for ubuntu/debian, see:
http://winehq.org/site/download-deb
and in wine release notes for 0.9.38 there is in particular
- Many 64-bit compilation fixes.
so it seems actively followed by upfront.
Is there any plan to have a 64 bit build so that we can avoid at all
the annoying i386 dependencies for our best-of-all fc7-fc8?
I'm getting rid of the most i386 packages, after passing from rawhide
to fc7 (see past multilib dependency problems), but it seems that wine
carries with itself many other ones....
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca
