I downloaded the latest nightly desktop live image and booted it a short while ago - in my test machine it booted but then initially failed to allow graphical login - the greeter was flashing the splash image and no user was listed, and it seemed to be cycling in an odd manner a few times per second. I went to another text console and managed to use startx to get the user logged in to gnome 3. From that point it worked quite well. This was in a Dell D610 laptop with smolt data: http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_4e3c94ee-eb22-437e-987a-0b30fa637cba
The graphics chip is Radeon Mobility M300.
I guess this live image is the first built after the mass rebuild so am quite pleased that it worked at this stage.

Good day,
I am trying same download.. 20110212
It refuses to get past auto login..flashing in endless loop.
Please. Is there some key strokes that I can do to get past this flashing or whatever? Thanks Johan

What I did was to use ctrl-alt-F2 to get a text console and then su - to become root - then did telinit 3 which seemed not to work (maybe systemd related or my ignorance!)
Then did ctrl-alt-F4 and entered startx - this immediately gave me a graphical login - and into gnome shell as the liveuser.
I am sure this will be fixed within a day or two - and if you can't get it to work a new live iso will be built within a day or two.

Hi Mike, Thanks for your advice.
On my laptop this works every time..
Screen flashing ctrl-alt-F2 root enter telinit 3 enter ctrl-alt-F4 root enter startx enter
still refuses to install hard disk - like that since the beginning of rawhide
regards Johan

This is due to an upstream kernel bug. Follow bug 672265 if you want to track progress. The bug has a link to the lkml discussion.

Try this: while in tty-2, remove or rename /etc/gdm/custom.conf and reboot.

You don't need to reboot (and indeed doing so is no use on a live image). Just remove it and then do 'systemctl stop prefdm.service' then 'systemctl start prefdm.service' and switch to wherever gdm now shows up (probably VT7). That should be enough.

The way I got around it was to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and click on "Switch User". At that point I received a GDM login selection that was not segfaulting and I could click on the Live User and login.
