Hi all,
For grub to load the f15 TC1 initrd I clocked a time of 87 seconds. First time I encountered this I thought my computer hang, so I rebooted.
Is this normal behaviour? If so I suggest looking into this to see if it is possible to minimize load time.

I saw something like this recently with a kernel or two, but it got better. You might want to just wait for TC2 to see if it is still there.

Are you talking about during installation? If so, that's normal. Note that there is no longer an install.img so it's all in the initrd and therefore it's much larger than it was in F14.
We are working on making it smaller, but don't expect any miracles.

Before installation actually. But you are right. It is the loading of the initrd.img of the installation that takes so long. And dureing that time you don't see anything happening on the screen. So it;s easy to assume that the system has frozen.

Is it possible to make grub print more dots? I think that this would help a lot to give users a sense that something is actually happening.
I second that.
