Anyone have success using deltaiso to make f18-tc1 iso? Both my orig iso (f17-x86_64-DVD) sha256sum and the deltaiso md5sum are good.

RHEL is using the old (pre-F15) xz compression. The easiest way out is to use the semi-static executables in http://robatino.fedorapeople.org/deltaiso_executables/f15/ (the arch refers to the host, not the delta ISO, so if your host is x86_64, then you always use the x86_64 binaries).
BTW, I use the same executables when I build and verify the disos, since secondary01.fp.o is running RHEL 6.

I downloaded the DVD diso and MD5SUM files, but the local MD5SUM mismatches (Fedora 17 x86_64):

The most likely problem is a truncated download. Make sure your downloaded file is in fact 1434024108 bytes. If it's shorter, you can use wget -c to complete the download. If it still doesn't match, you can use rsync to fix the download as described in http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/deltaisos/README .

Yes, that was my finding as well. I started to rsync to the existing download thinking this should take only a minute or so, and then found it was still going to take another hour, which was the original expected download time. killed that, realized the download was to a different folder ;-)
By the way, since people might be keeping up with rawhide repo, does anyone still make jigdo definitions for the Fedora test/release isos. For me these would save a huge amount of time/bandwidth (that I don't have) ?

If rsync is available, it should save roughly the same amount of bandwidth that jigdo does. Jigdo saves bandwidth by not downloading unchanged packages, but changed packages are downloaded in full. This is roughly what rsync does (since the blocks in old and new versions of a package should match if and only if the package is unchanged). The downside is that rsync clobbers the server so its use may be discouraged.
I do provide zsync files for TCs/RCs in http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/deltaisos/zsync/ , but suspect that approximately zero people use them. Zsync is not yet in the fedora repos (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=490140 ), so you have to get a zsync client elsewhere. I've used it occasionally when I prematurely deleted an older ISO and needed to go backwards from a newer one to recover it.

Don't bother. I realized that I had downloaded to a different folder, and so the one I was checking against was a partial download only (10Mb of 1.3GB). Thanks anyway.
