On radeon HD 36xx cards, too the radeon driver works 'out of box'
What I have is this (from lspci): 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV535 [Radeon X1650 series] (rev 9e) 01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV535 [Radeon X1650 Series] (rev 9e)
It should work well with driver radeonhd and possibly radeon
Check man radeon
Boot to runlevel 3, modprobe radeonhd, create a suitable xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 (copy from sda for eg) Then 'startkde' (no options allowed)
Repeat with 'radeon'
Best
