I now use the LIO iSCSI target instead of IET, but it seems one

Yes, it seems so.
With IET, registering the target to an iSNS server is just a matter
of
adding "iSNSServer" to the configuration file. With LIO, I assume that
I need an additional component to register my targets to an iSNS
server.
I found this page on
linux-iscsi.org, but its content seems outdated.

I pulled the svn repo mentioned on this page. Nothing seems relevant to
the current kernel code. I think iSNS development should be considered a
new feature, and given that everything else is in the kernel, I'd assume
iSNS support would be via kernel code too.
It's on my todo list but haven't been able to prioritize it. Would you
say this is an important feature that we should be working on?
You may want to ask over on target-devel, and get Nick's take on
importance and possible implementation.
