I'm not seeing a change in my logs...I added the following to the [sssd] section
debug_microseconds = true
Also, I don't suppose that there is any way to include a transaction id to make it
easier to trace interleaved log messages on a busy system?

Hello,
Is it possible to get sssd to log millisecond timestamps? It only logs to the second and
that makes it difficult correlate the flow through various logs while tracking a
(potential) performance issue.
Sure.
man sssd.conf -> debug_microseconds
