Hey,
so that upgrade of the sources left my system in a strange state -- probably because of

There isn't really an internal agent. Basically the new RHQ Storage
Node is managed using the new RHQ Storage agent plugin. That means we
need an agent in place to manage the storage node, and as such, when you
install a storage node we also install an agent. It's a standard
(external) agent that happens to be installed to
<rhq-home-dir>/rhq-agent. As an aside, the storage node is installed
similarly, to <rhq-home-dir>/rhq-agent. For dev-container builds this
would be dev-container/rhq-agent and
dev-container/rhq-storage.
You do not need to install a separate agent on the box. The agent is
then controlled by rhqctl, like the server and storage node.
