that may be doable. we'd have to move some installer code into the server code
(essentially reversing what we just spent months doing :) that is, we just moved the
installer code OUT of the running server itself).

I understand that. But what I mean by hidden is completely
non-dependent
on the start script or some command-line option. The point here is
that
this is a temporary workaround for a bug in AS7 (our container) so
introducing this new command-line option to the installer will
potentially confuse things. My reference to hidden is actually
putting
this process into the RHQ module itself. When the server starts, it
performs the checks and re-configures if necessary and triggers a
restart of the AS host.
