For the packaging side, I confirm that having a fdk-aac-free package with the current upstream SONAME unmodified in fedora is acceptable. Even having a virtual provides for fdk-aac (but no obsoletes). That's a compromise to avoid breaking our non-replacement policy (that others third part repositories don't follow). Along with not having existing end-users package replaced by a less featured version.
Please keep in mind that as soon as RPM Fusion is concerned, we may NOT test if the Fedora library is at the same version as the RPM Fusion one, we may update the package according to the Fedora updates policy, so any future ABI changes will have to be taken into account on the Fedora side in the appropriate timing.
