It fails checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes checking for gdlib_CFLAGS... checking for gdlib_LIBS... configure: error: Package requirements (gdlib >= 2.0.15) were not met. Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively you may set the gdlib_CFLAGS and gdlib_LIBS environment variables to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.66151 (%build)

compared to yours, checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes checking for gdlib_CFLAGS... checking for gdlib_LIBS... -lXpm -lX11 -ljpeg -lfontconfig -lfreetype -lpng12 -lz -lm checking for X... libraries , headers checking for gethostbyname... yes checking for connect... yes
even though I don't feel it requires libgd.so.2 in yours too
